Dr. Jong Pil Lee Memorial Scholarship

With Gratitude to Lisa and Jun Choi for their generous contribution to our scholarship fund

The Long Island Mathematics Conference Board is proud to provide college scholarships for deserving African American, Native American and Hispanic high school students. These students must plan to major in mathematics at an accredited college or university of their choice. Candidates intending to major in mathematics and who address their love of mathematics in their personal essay will be given priority in consideration for this award. Only high school seniors are eligible to apply.

The Dr. Jong Pil Lee Scholarship has been a key function of the Long Island Mathematics Conference Board and scholarships are awarded annually at the LIMAÇON conference. Dr. Lee, along with Judy Broadwin, launched our program, which is currently spearheaded by Art Kalish and Bruce Waldner. Applications are reviewed by members of the Long Island Mathematics Conference Board and awardees are determined. The scholarship was originally a $1000 award but the current scholarship amounts to $1500 for each recipient.

After the unfortunate death of our founder, Dr. Jong Pil Lee, the scholarship was named in his honor. Learn more about Dr. Lee.

Applications will be accepted for the 2024 Dr. Jong Pil Lee Scholarship through Friday, January 12, 2024.
